Huck was going to write a letter to Miss Watson about Jim and how he was a runaway slave. He was basically going to be turning Jim in and get him caught. Huck wanted to write her about how Jim was on the loose. He decided not to though because then people would know Huck had been helping Jim, a runaway slave. He also felt guilty to turn Jim in because they had become very close. Huck felt like they had become friends and he didn’t feel that he could betray Jim like that. This showed that Huck was a good person and he didn’t think just about himself. He cared for someone else and decided to keep Jim safe. This showed that Huck had good character.

Vivian,
I think that it's smart that you included the fact that if Huck turned Jim in he would be giving himself up too seeing as he had been assisting in hiding the runaway slave. There are two sides to the matter, and I think it's important that you saw that. While yes, Huck did feel guilty about writing to Mrs. Watson, especially after how close Jim and him and gotten, but it's important to remember that Huck also would've been risking getting in trouble for not turning him in sooner. I like your ideas, good job.

I thought your blog was very good. It was brief and to the point and you answered the question very well. I liked your thoughts on why you thought Huck did what he did and I also agree with you!
Good Job !
