End of Book

Linda finally becomes free because she is bought by Mrs. Bruce and she frees Linda with papers.  Since they had met Mrs. Bruce had been doing everything to keep Linda safe from the Flint’s.  Linda doesn’t feel that this is not how she wanted things to end up.  She didn’t want to be freed by being bought.  She thought that it wasn’t the way to be freed because she had been bought as if she were some item.  This is not the way that Linda wanted to be freed.  She didn’t feel too happy about this but she was glad to be free all the same.

Good blog!! I agree with you that Linda had mixed emotions when Mrs. Bruce offered to buy her. Linda did not want to be purchased because that would seem like she was property. Then, at the same time, Linda was glad that she was freed and could finally relax.
