Apprentices do not like Eustace because he works them too hard and he expects a great deal out of them. He works them as hard as possible and he wants nothing but perfection from them on everything. This pushes people away because they cannot handle the strenuous hours. Each person who goes through Turtle Island think that it will be fun and that they will be learning a lot about nature but it ends up being over the top for them and they cannot handle it. It is hard to for people to have the same work ethic as Eustace does. I don’t think I would want to work for Eustace because I would not like at all the long work hours and how much he expects out of his apprentices. It would be too much and there would be no time for fun or relaxation.

Chapter 7
Eustace had many reasons for wanting to ride horses across country. The person that he wants to take with him is his brother, Judson. He wants to spend more time with him and get him more involved in nature. Eustace remembers his brother being locked up in his room playing games and not outdoors enjoying nature. He thought this would be a perfect time to teach Judson as much as he could. He also loved horses and thought it would be a great experience to ride across the country. One of the most important events that happened on the trip was just how Eustace treated the animals on the journey. It just showed how connected he was with nature. One example was with the mule, Peter Rabbit. The mule had injured Judson and Eustace just got right in his face and spent hours making sure the mule wouldn’t act out again. Of course, it worked eventually after very long painful time but it worked. It just showed how he could control animals well.

Chapter 5- Turtle Island
In running around to speak in front of people and teaching children about not living in a box, Eustace started going away from his natural life. He ended up having to borrow money from his father because he needed it to be able to have Turtle Island. This caused problems because then he had to work to pay it back and it was painful for him to even ask his father. Eustace had so much to do to get Turtle Island going that he started not living in nature as much and traveling a lot. He had to speak to many different groups and set up activities on Turtle Island. It was hard for him and stressful but once it was set up and he was teaching the children it all paid off. He loved setting the children off in the woods and teaching them things about nature and to not live in a box.

Child Advocacy Inc.
The organization I chose was Child Advocate Inc. It is an organization that helps with abused children. They help them through their court date and to make sure that they find a safe home. I chose this advocacy group because they help make the child feel wanted and make sure that they aren’t forgotten. This is a good thing because the child has just gone through a traumatic event. I think that this group does a good thing by bringing in volunteers to help with the kids and find out important information for their trials. They also make sure that the child does find a safe home and if that means after the parent has gone through a class that they get to go back to them then that is fine. They just want to find the best fit for the child.

Minority groups
People who suffer from confinement are women and people who are in the minority of their race or choice of opinion. These people when they are with people who are not like them are usually shunned. For example, their race, gender, or choice of opinion could cause them not to get a job or be able to go some places. Their looks or choice of opinion that aren’t what “most” people like then it will cause for things like what happened to Linda to happen to them. Stuff that happened to Linda still happen today and it will be a long time before it completely goes away, which is sad.

End of Book
Linda finally becomes free because she is bought by Mrs. Bruce and she frees Linda with papers. Since they had met Mrs. Bruce had been doing everything to keep Linda safe from the Flint’s. Linda doesn’t feel that this is not how she wanted things to end up. She didn’t want to be freed by being bought. She thought that it wasn’t the way to be freed because she had been bought as if she were some item. This is not the way that Linda wanted to be freed. She didn’t feel too happy about this but she was glad to be free all the same.
