Gatsby had been dreaming for a long time to meet Daisy and he had been looking out across his lake towards her house where a green light had shown. He had been building himself up to meet her and used that green light to stay connected to her. Once he met her it felt like his dreams had fallen a little because he had made it seem greater in his mind than it really was. Then once he had finally reconnected Daisy it meant that the green light didn’t have its special effect as it had before. This felt made him feel like it was a let down.

I thought that it was interesting how you said that the green light was a way to stay connected with Daisy. I agree with you. Gatsby had not talked to Daisy for several years and always threw luxurious parties, hoping she would come to one. I think that the green light was a good representation of Gatsby's longing for Daisy.
