The Christ dream happened right after Joe had been drugged. He had this dream of Christ who came and had the boys play a card game with them a drink. The boys were going off to the war and so then this was their last time to just have a good time. They also learned of their fate and Christ was just helping make it seem ok and everything would be alright. Then Joe comes in and says well he isn’t going to die but he will be worse off than the rest of them because of the state he will be in. Then they all say one last goodbye to their family because they are leaving and will never come back home. While Joe is in the train he leaves and goes find Christ because he feels he is stuck in between he doesn’t fit with living people but he isn’t dead. All the dream is doing is just talking more about how all these soldiers leave and go die and how they didn’t want to go die and how Joe is stuck in between with nowhere to go.

Vivian!
Great Blog! I thought you answered the question very thoroughly. Joe is in a very unfortunate position. I agree with you when you say that Joe is stuck between death and life and how he can't join the other soldiers on the train that are going off to die, which is making him miserable and lonely. Nice Job, keep up the great work!
This is true. The sixteen year old boy, Joe called Christ. He was the one that gave everybody drinks and told them about their death. The boy is already dead, and he is telling soldiers that board the train either they are going to live or die. All the men that are playing the card game are going to die in war and Joe isn't. Joe doesn't belong on the train because he isn't going to die. Joe feels lonely at this point because of that.
Good blog.
I agree when you say that Joe is stuck in the middle of things. He is neither dead nor alive, thus he goes to Christ in order to find someone who is both dead and alive, referenced in the biblical stories of Christ dying and then rising again.
However, there is something deeper than this. Joe wants mercy from Christ. He knows that he will suffer, thus he wants Christ to save him and either give him life or death, as opposed to living in a sort of purgatory.
Hey viv wonderfully blog~! I thought you answered the question very thoroughly. This is true. I agree when you say that Joe is stuck in the middle of things! However, there is something deeper than this. So i think you should find it :) but it was still great! keep up the great work.
Vivian, this was a really good blog. You did a really good job of connecting his dream of Christ to the outcomes of the other soldiers. It seems as though if Joe knew beforehand that he was going to die, he wouldn't have kept going on. He really is in a worse spot than the young boy/Christ that died.
